No greater feeling in the world then walking down a narrow street in amsterdam while you are sparking up a big joint and having cops pass you by while completely ignoring you.

A lot of the violence/gang stuff could be related to the fact that selling Marijuana is illegal in the first place. Take away the reason to grow/sell illegally and the organizations related to it will cease to exist ... or move on to other drugs ... hmm maybe this won't totally solve the problem.

Good point, but I don't think that the thugs selling drugs on the streets are the big problem. I doubt that the major importers of our beloved substances walk around with bandanas sporting "yo yo yo" attitudes.
I don't really know where I was going with this... I hate the thugz too, that's all

How about the many other drugs gangs are involved in selling? Cocaine, Meth, Crack, Heroin, etc. etc.

He needs to focus on those drugs.....which are causing way more problems than Marijuana.

I grew up in the states and saw some of my friends who were honour roll students get tossed in jail for having a small amount of weed, or a pipe (for smoking pot) and happened to get pulled over by a power tripping cop. They sat in jail with criminals that have done far worse things than them....at only the age of 16, 17?

Let's hope Canada doesn't turn into that....

It's on track ... and I think you misunderstood me.

I was saying that making a relatively harmless drug like pot legal would cut out the organized crime associated with it. Not all drug related organized crime, but a large chunk of it. Then you'd be left with the big timers associated with coke etc.

oh boohoo

Liberals sat on this bill for what? 12 years? And it made SO much progress now the Conservatives get rid of it and everyone makes a big fuss about it. Is it gonna stop anyone here from smoking? Doubt it.

dude, pot won't be legal here for a VERY long time. Even if the "Liberals" were in power for 50 years; it would never happen. The furthest it would go would be decriminalization. And there's always hope that the province might do that.

they were doing a show on this exact thing on CFRB 1010, i called in and blazed the whole concept. Stephen Harper and his pathetic American ways, will seek to instill his idea of Canadian values on the entire country.Fvck him.
