Only a few tracks are really dancable. Still all trance tho. This stuff wouldnt really fit into any set, but is still brilliant.

Chicane's old stuff wasn't all dancey, esp stuff from Far From The Maddening Crowds, it really bordered on trance and ambient music. BT's early stuff was the same way, stuff from Ima and ESCM, some of it was really dancey, others were more subdued or just different. Ulrich Schnauss, to me, is the closest i've found to music that is quite trancey, it's almost trance-ambient or my term "downtempo trance". I mean it's so much like trance music that I feel he's creating a new, non-dance based...home listening version of the sound. This might not be his intent, but it sure sounds trance-like to me. But over the years, I have listened to trance more than I have danced to it, so i've always felt it was the more listenable EDM, versus harder techno or more rhythmic house, or really fast DnB or hardcore. There's a lot of fast beat music that you don't have to dance to..in order to enjoy, a lot of rock is quite fast with a heavy beat but people don't all dance to it. But there are some trance tunes that I would much rather dance to, like the really hard and fast stuff..the techier stuff. The melodic stuff is always pleasant to listen to, as well as dance to.

his music may be regarded as 'ambient', or perhaps 'psychedelic ambient', I've seen people call it 'ambient trance'; in my opinion this is pure trance music. and I don't mean 130bpm+ 4x4 trance music.

I've seen hippies dance to that.

But that doesn't really prove anything, because hippies will dance to anything.

Yes. But then again this whole topic doesn't make sense as some people might not dance to trance that is supposedly made to be danced to and some people (eg aforementioned hippies) might dance to trance that is supposedly not made to be danced to.

The individual, some people listen to this music at home or in their car, other people just dance to it at clubs or festivals/events, other people do both. But some tunes are made more for dancing then others, and I think it would be interesting to know more artists, as the thread starter, who make trance music that wasn't intended for the dance floor. If this music was just made for dancing, then there wouldn't be radio shows, mixed CDs, artist albums and we would just catch the tunes in clubs and not having listened to it at home before going to a club and then hearing it and dancing to it. I don't just dance around in my room like an idiot (unless i get carried away while i'm mixing) when I hear a trance or other EDM tune, I listen to it and then hear it at a club and dance to it. I listen to trance in my car a lot, I don't dance around while driving lol. I don't want to speak for everyone, and I don't know everyone here, but it seems the vast majority of people on TA both listen to it and dance to it at clubs or festivals. I hear people all the time say I "listened to this CD" or "listened to this tune" not "I danced to this tune".
