Dude, why don't you look at the third side of the story, that the Chinese gov't has an OFFICIAL POLICY of prosecuting peaceful Falun Gong practitioners, or for that matter, anyone who doesn't subscribe to the standard state ideology of the People's Republic of China... Falun Gong is a practice based on faith, morals, and aspects of health... the government suppresses demonstrations by practitioners by violence, bans publication of their materials... why? Because no other organization that has the potential to draw support and faith should exist alongside the Communist Party.
I'm not saying the organ farming is true or untrue either, but they put "Falun Gong" in quotes because they don't recognize the faith and they don't even think these people should be alive.
Why would you trust a quote from a government official whose country blocks "controversial" internet sites so its citizens can live in some self-contained, perfect little state-controls-media world? |
i'm not saying that i trust them, i'm just trying to point out that one should always look at such testimony as objectively as possible which would include consideration from all sources whether they be from PRC State Controlled Media or from other independent media outlets.
Although from a personal standpoint, I do sympathize with many of the struggles of the Falung Gong practitioners, but I have also however witnessed some of their very brash attempts at garnering media attention through forums (not to be confused with this one), not intended for that purpose that some may even consider to be offensive.
Bear in mind that there are other religious groups which exist in China, both subject to government recognition as well as persecution. I don't doubt that the PRC government has cracked down on Falung Gong members in violation of their human rights, but I would not be in any way surprised to find some of their claims later debunked, or at the very least exaggerated.
I realize that my quote of the PRC statement is likely perceived as being one extreme of the spectrum, but it's that very notion that I'm trying to get across.
