After the date on the back.

But if your G expires all you gotta do is pay up and you're fine.

btw..

Novice Class Drivers (G1, G2, M1, M2) In or Outside Ontario

These classes of licences are not renewable upon expiry. Approximately six months prior to the expiry date of the licence a Notice of Novice Driver's Licence Expiry will be mailed to the driver to the last address registered on the ministry's database. This notice will detail the level achieved, and what options the driver has to re-qualify or exit the graduated licensing system.
Drivers In Ontario (Classes A, B, C, D, E, F, G and M)

You should receive a renewal application in the mail to the last address registered on the ministry's database approximately 60 days prior to your driver's licence expiry date. If you do not receive or have lost a renewal application, a new one can be printed, and your licence renewed while you wait, at any Driver & Vehicle Licence Issuing Office. You can renew an expired driver's licence, without taking tests, within one year of the licence expiry date.

If a driver's licence has been expired for more than one, but fewer than three years, you must visit a DriveTest centre to complete a vision test. If your licence has been expired for over three years but not more than 10 years, you have to reapply under Graduated Licensing at a DriveTest centre—the mandatory waiting periods are waived. If your licence has expired for over ten years, you have to reapply under graduated licensing at a DriveTest centre and serve all the mandatory waiting periods.

To renew your licence, take the Renewal Application to a Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office. You will be asked to sign the application, show identification, pay the required renewal amount, and have your photograph taken if required. The renewal fee is $75.00.

Effective January 1, 2005 all payments made by personal cheques must be certified unless sent by mail.

Note: For Classes A, B, C, E and F or Condition Z (air brake endorsement), please go to a DriveTest centre to take the required tests. Once you complete the required tests, you must take the renewal application to a Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office to renew your licence.

am I going to have trouble just paying the oustanding fines/fees and renewing it?

Once you have your G license, you only have to renew it as it expires every 5 years. From what I understood you wont have to re-write your G1 or take another road test again like you would if you only had a G2.

Once you are able to take the G test.. just do it and get it out of the way. That way you will never have to worry about being reset back to G1/G2 taking all those tests again. Waste of time & money..

I think its so pointless to have to write a G1 over again if your G2 expires.. you obviously have practical experience, and you've already proven that you know the rules of the road. What a cash grab.

I renewed my licence & got new plates/new car 3 years after I got a red-light ticket.. never heard from them so I still havent paid it. Not sure how that differs from speeding tickets.

However I did have to pay all outstanding parking fines when I renewed my plates.
