Try Nor Elle's - Slapstick album. The title track was on Danny Howell's 24/7 comp. I highly recommend it!

Ulrich is the GOD of downtempo music.

Also check out Vibrasphere, they make some good quality downtempo music (and also prog-psy)

He's got a 3rd coming out!!!???

Nice.

The only thing is, should we wait to see if he re-releases it?

I was so lucky I waited to buy "Far Away Trains Passing By". I didnt know it was going to get re-released but I absolutely love it!!! I love "Nothing Happens In June" and "Suddenly The Trees Are giving Way".

ULRICH OWNZ!!!

So anyway, now that we are on the right track... I'm looking for stuff similar to Ulrich except instead of short synths i'm after smooth elongated chords with slow beats. (slightly hip-hoppy beats)

Yeah he is releasing a new album, it should be out sometime this summer. And yeah I love those tracks and many more, you forgot "Nobody's Home" that is an unbelievable track. And I really like "As If You've Never Been Away", nice uplifting tune. You might check out DJ Shadow, Massive Attack/Tricky or Thievery Corporation, I dunno if thats what your looking for but you might like them...

You mean trip hop?

Check out stuff from Thievery Corporation and Massive Attack.

The DJ Kicks series of compilations might be what you are looking for.

oh my freakin' shit!!!

"Illumination" by "Thievery Corporation" was one of those tracks that made me stop what I was doing and just stand there with my jaw dropped. That effect has worn off. I havent listened to that tune for a while though. Might have to do that soon

DJ Shadow, now theres an interesting character.

Years ago everybody was like "Oh, ya gotta get 'Endtroducing' by DJ Shadow". Soooo many people were saying that, so I thought "what have I got to lose?". hmmmm.

I'm still not quite sure where to stand with DJ Shadow. "Endtroducing" has so many of those 1:00 tracks that dont actually contain any music.

Then on the other hand there's "The Private Press" which I happen to think kicks ass. The first track I ever heard from DJ shadow was "You Can't Go Home Again". I love it to death.

Then recently, upon buying "The Essential Simon & Garfunkel" (don't laugh ) I realised that 'Shadow' had sampled (I prefer stolen) the melody from "El Pasa Condor". I was a little upset after that. I realise that he pretty much samples all of his drums and all that but I was under the impression that "You Can't Go Home Again" was all of HIS talent.

no, not trip hop

and yeah, I'm familiar with those two artists. They don't make the stuff im after.

Picture a track like "Limn" from "Deaf Center" with a slow hip-hop beat... That is what i'm after.

I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get any help here though because i'm basically going back to asking about "non-vocal hiphop" (something which apparantely doesnt exist)
