for artists that make music and let you download it (music promotion forums), i always ask for permission if they will let me play it.

Personally, I wouldnt play anything I didnt pick up at the record store, unless I had permission from the artist to play it out... (if it was a promo for say, from a local producer or something)

I guess it depends on the situation, but I would say a large factor in DJ etiquette is not playing stuff you arent supposed to play... If it feels iffy, it probably is.

yes, i *think* you can play stuff out of mixcd's, but uhhm, it's still ghetto to do that

Well if what that one guy said is true and the mixes on ASOT 2006 are ALMOST A MINUTE LONG then you have alot of the original track to play with.
