Weak.

This is exactly what's wrong with the trance scene in Vancouver. People skip the underated shows and only come out for the so called big names. Soon there will only be big name shows in Vancouver, not like anyone gives a shit anyways. Sorry to single you out bro, don't take it personally.. just a big frustration I have with the current state of things.

blueadept, if you think you'll be going out tonight, i highly recommend gtr. i've seen this guy numerous times and i've enjoyed every single set. im not saying this because its a union show, but because gaz really is a talented dj

My reasons are simple, distance from the events, and money. Being a student, money is lacking as you probably are aware, and having to pay for gas all the way out to Vancouver ontop of parking, tickets, drinks, taking the night off work... it adds up. So then it turns into a periodic occasion and oh look! Periodically big DJs come to Vancouver, how convenient.

Additionally, I just turned 19 at the end of November, and have been listening to trance since I was 16 or 17. Gotta feed the urges to see the big names that you 'grew up with'. Further, I'm not going to waste money on a DJ if I've never heard of them... as stated before, the costs involved make the risk too high. To that you may say, "Well, big names can disappoint." True, but there is a lesser chance, and simply being there to see them adds a bit of guaranteed enjoyment.

Like I said man, I didn't mean to single you out. I understand where youre coming from, but at the same time I don't see why people insist on paying outrageous prices for the big names ($60-100+), when the exact same if not better tunes can be heard for $15-20.

i am somewhat surprised gtr is not widely known. he's done some great productions, worked with great djs and producers yet guys who've been around less than him get way more attention (e.g., niklas harding, menno de jong), i mean not to say they shouldnt be getting attention, just that gaz is pretty underrated. plus he did make it into the dj mag rating at 132

Well, the man has his own show now, episodes of which you can either download or subscribe to in iTunes. Hopefully that would spin him off.

Anyway, I will see what's the fuss is all about tonight.
