@ PutBoy:
This is one of the tutorials I've haven't seen before.
There are dozens of other tutorials about most of those things. Filtering and layering are not common though. Actually, my best kick was made by layering three kicks.
Would be awsome to get a tutorial on one of those rare subjects.
@ dj_kane:
I'm a FL Studio user. I've only tested Cubase briefly. But, like I said earlier; read the guide closely and you might be able to adapt the tricks. I don't know how the sample playback in Cubase works. If you NEED to have a sampler to play drums, the settings must be tweaked withing that.

Hold down the "Shift/Exit" button and hit "INIT/UTIL"
Hit "INIT/UTIL" till "Initialize" comes up in the display. Push UP on the bank value till it says PATCH: TEMP. Hit write. There you go. Fresh patch for you to play with.

As far as I've observed in Reason, ReDrum does not have that functionality. You'll need to use one of the samplers. I don't know which of them is best for this purpose.

Just thought of another use of this tutorial.
When making those long hard hits in DnB, you don't always want to play the tail. If you do this tutorial, you can choose the lenght of the sample for each time it's played by plotting the notes in the pianoroll.

nice tuturial man,
i also use the pogo button to tweak my kick-samples (works sometimes). i would consider that for your tutorial.
try to avoid using compressor. locking for a good sample from scratch is the better way.
