So I get to be the first one to review this place? WOW! What an honour!
This place will not last long on TO scene. Toronto does not need a club like like Sonic.
I got there with my friend just in time for opening- few minutes afer 1am. We got in the club just after 3am from the ticket holders line to face yet another line up to get checked in...
We were not willing to pay extra for this nite. We planned in advance to go and got our tickets. The club staff knew that the ticket holders line is a sure thing because people already paid and were willing to wait longer than the people who did not.
It was such a fiasco. People who got in were the ones who paid up to the staff. After a riot almost broke out in the ticket line coz too many people were let in after just walking up to the bouncer(s) and paying we were threatned that if we don't keep quiet we will not get in.
I heard more than one comment from my line that this will be the first and last visit...
What kind of place does this kind of business? And treats it's customers in this manner?
One that "is not afraid of competition because there is no competition" and whose "name is money".
Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
And inside? I was so frustrated trying to get in that I did not enjoy myself. Sure Frankie was good (I completely missed Nevio while waiting in the line) but not good enough to make up for the experience outside the club. What else? Sound was good, not great and they did a good job renovating the place.
By some magic formula the club was divided into 2. The dancefloor belonged to the gay scene and the back of the club to the straight scene. At first I did not notice, until a point when I was completely surrounded by half naked sweaty men.
And now I understand the discussion from another thread on TA about Carwash Crew. Don't get me wrong. I am not homophobic and as a female I tend to get along well with gay men. One of my best friend is gay and I have been to Fly more than once. I guess this was the cherry on top of the cake for me for the nitght and I could not stand all the sweat brushing against me.
Ya, that would be all for now. I am gonna crash and try to not to waste my entire sunny Sunday because of this event.
And Vrk, I almost forgot that bad eastern european habbit called swearing. I wanted to swear so F...ing bad! You know how bad those can get in croatian.
I my opinion you only missed lots of arrogance and attitude tonite.
