After FIVE years of attending Coachella it was easy to pick out the good and the bad and this year had some of everything.

SATURDAY

Easy drive from San Diego to Coachella.
Even EASIER time getting in at 3pm. They did an awesome job cutting down the entry lines this year. Wasn't even checked on Day One.

Kayne West:
Saw all of Kayne West's show and he was SOLID and played all of his hits. "Jesus Walks" was a highlight. He really worked the crowd.

Walked in on Collete in the tent, but wasn't feelin it so then headed to main stage to see some of Sigur Ros. Very mellow Air-like set from them.

Carl Cox:
Amazing set from Coxy. He really had the tent jumping and getting people into his beats. Hearing "Two Months Off" from Underworld was a personal highlight. "You let light in...you let light in...."

Depeche Mode:
Caught the first 30 minutes and they were really mellow. Heard "Precious", but missed the big hits because we wanted a good spot for Daft Punk.

Daft Punk:
What hasn't been said? Hands down the most impressive Dance set I have ever seen!!!!! This passed both Underworld and Chemical Brothers IMO. The show, the stage and those cool robot helmets combined with some of the best mixing I have ever heard in my life.

Since this may be their final performances ever around the world we even booked rooms at Global Gathering in the U.K.
Can you imagine seeing 50,000 European dance fans seeing this performance in the UK???? OMG!!!!!! But I will give credit to the Coachella crowd. People were losing their minds and moving to all their songs.

SUNDAY:
Got in very fast again at 1:30 and was checked hard this time. Take that terrorists!!!!

Saw Kristina Sky and she was awesome with a rare Coachella trancey set. Went over by 30 minutes and had the early crowd moving. Heard some ISOS tracks in there.

Gabriel and Dresden:
Wanted to hear the Brokeback Mtn. remix "Wings" and didn't.
Did hear "Tracking Treasure Down" and Imogen Heap song. Overall they were ok, but didn't really blow the tent up like I expected them too.

Now it was HOT!!!! So we stayed in the tent for most of the day. Got to hear Louie Vega and he was better than expected with his classic NY House music. He ended strong and people were feelin it. Kaskade started strong and then we lost interest in the middle. After getting some drinks down we were ready for Oakey.

Paul Oakenfold:
Packed tent. First 30 minutes the track selection and the energy was amazing. He played a song with the lyrics "The World is Mine" and it tore the tent up!! People were ready to dance and then Oakey went back to being Oakey and horrified us with his crap-tastic mixing and poor track selections that was all over the place. The crowd was going at the end to Born Slippy and then he finished with some boring track. He did play Southern Sun at sunset, which was pretty cool.

Madonna:
Would have liked to hear more dance tracks from her. But her stage presence was excellent and she delivered a show for 30 minutes.

Mylo:
Waited for Mylo while they tore down the Madonna stage and it was worth it. Even tho we were exhausted after 2 days Mylo had us jumping. He "Dropped the Pressure" and IMO was a underrated show that people missed out on. Sadly he ended our weekend when he decided to play "My Sharona".... the 10 minute version with no remix to end the set!! WTF???
My Sharona? Was he upset with the crowd? Or do people love this song? Very strange.

So in review: There is Daft Punk and then everyone else.

VIP wristbands at Coachella mean pretty much nothing...as much as a normal photo pass Just quicker entrance and a separate area to go to.

The ONLY good wristbands at Coachella that do anything, aside from Staff Laminates, are any cloth ones.

Nice review mate, I'm bummed I didnt catch Mylo due to being on the complete opposite side of Coachella lol.

Btw, Madonna cock blocked the stage in the morning to "check it out" so everyone in the dance tent got delayed, and Kristina did not start playing untill about 1:15pm. Her and G&D's timeslots got adjusted accordingly, I dont think anyone else suffered though.

I agree on G&D aswell, they werent bad, but just nothing real special, especially for an ableton set I would expect some cool effects and whatnot to get people into it...but nothing :/

Wow, were we watching the same Oakenfold set? Because 7/10 is way too much credit. He fucked up every mix right from the start, then tried to blame in on the tables lol. That was HILARIOUS!! He crouched down and started eyeing the turntable as if it was off center lol. Yet for some resaon...he was the only dj with 'equipment' problems IT BOGGLES THE MIND!!

Anyway, as much fun as Coachella was, on the 2nd day I just kept saying "this is good...but it's not Daft Punk". That counts for Madonna too, I thought for sure that the Daft Punk/Madonna combo would be crazy, but a 5 track 30 min set from Madonna is pretty shitty. Especially after putting up with Oakenfold's ass for an hour plus and all those half naked, fat, hairy, bald gay guys

Didn't have much trouble getting to Coachella, but we all (me, Clovis, my girlfriend, my friend, and my little bro) all left Friday night, got to our condo, set up the cjds (in true dj fashion) partied for a bit on Friday. Tried to see Infusion but with traffic and parking we caught about 5 mins of them Too bad, that was the only group other than Daft Punk I was really looking forward to seeing on Saturday. Hybrid was so damn boring, I thought for sure it would have been a dj set. But they played live, and yeah...pretty lame. Almost like Seal lol

It was hard enough to get my ass out of bed to take Clovis over to meet you guys . When I went to return my rental car today there were 2 guys there that went to Coachella. And I quote, "we checked out the Sarah tent a few times, whoever that chick dj was in the beginning was really cool. Every time we went back there she was rocking it out, too bad Oakenfold sucked though." Nice one bruv!
