I can see where this law is coming from too. Its yet another feel good bylaw that does nothing but inconvenience the homeowner. And not coincidentally, raises more taxes.

No they are not our baby sitter. But I agree that if you have a pool of water where someone (not just a kid but perhaps a handicapped person) could drown in, then it should be protected by a fence and a locking gate.

Point is, people should not be tresspassing to begin with.

Hey- there's a HUGE body of water, not protected by any locked fence, and its called LAKE ONTARIO, where thousands of homes back onto it. I hope some homeowner sues the province when their kid drowns in it one day, claiming the gov't shoulda put a fence around it.

You already have to have an outdoor pool enclosed with a fence. This by-law is not meant for the little kiddie pools but for the larger ones that are now being made. I believe the depth is anything over 2 feet.

It is true....no one takes responsibility for their actions anymore...but all it takes is one person to sue because little timmy drowned in the pool and then the flood gates will open for more lawsuits. This is just a measure to help lower your liability if something like the above happens.
