If you're gonna say shit like that, why don't
you back it up with an intelligent response?
My opinion was solely based on popularity.
Forget the stats, look at what each DJ
is acctually doing to promote trance and themselves.
Armin's a hard working boy and deserves all the praise.

Armin is, but are you saying that Tiesto isnt as hard working? I think its clear that all the top DJs in the world, regardless of genre, are incredibly hard working. To say one works harder than the other is ridiculous because really, how can you know? I think Tiesto has done an incredible amount for the Trance scene, and still continues too. His touring schedule is unmatched by anyone. He goes everywhere in the world. An he does like 5,6, sometimes 7 gigs a week.
The fact of the matter is, the original poster was stating his opinion. I for one agree. I've seen Armin perform in toronto many times, as well as tiesto. And its not even close, IMO Tiesto is a much better DJ to see in a club. Especially lately, the last 3 times Armin has been here, his sets have been pretty crappy in comparison to other DJs. Just about a month ago, he came on after a great Oakenfold set and practically put everyone to sleep. Technically, he was pretty bad too. But you wont here many TAs complain about it, bc its clear that to many of them, Armin can do no wrong. Its a shame TAs are so hard on Tiesto. But hey, it comes with the popularity, the awards, the innovation, etc.
Now dont get me wrong, i like armin. I love ASOT, and some of his productions too. However, Armin is not in the same league as Tiesto, or PVD, or even Ferry Corsten IMO, when it comes to DJing in a club. Like the original poster said, its not even close.

An intelligent response I was looking for .. thanks!
You've obviously a Tiesto worshiper and that's fine, I accept that.
First off .. Tiesto DOES NOT go everywhere in the world.
Tiesto goes to major population centers.
I give ARMIN much respect for going out to Edmonton and Winnipeg
whereas TIESTO wouldn't step in those towns.
Tiesto hasn't produced shit in months ..
He's been remixing and forking out his old tunes for too damn long.
My opinion on the matter was not wheather Armin should replace
Tiesto as #1 in history of trance, but rather he deserves better
praise then Tiesto in today's times.
You hear Armin doing gigs all over the place while Tiesto
just waits to cash in on his concert series. Honestly, money
is the name of the game and we'd be fooling ourselves to believe
these DJ's come out and do what they do solely to promote the genre.
We all know Armin is a commercial trance DJ as well, but at least
I see him busting his ass with ASOT and doing up gigs at all the
lesser known and major towns as well.
Bottom line, Armin will replace Tiesto and flourish
the way for many new DJ/producers to come.
Or at least that's what us TA's think! (see the TA top10 DJ votes?)

Worshipper and fan are the same thing to you? I'm a trance fan. And a Tiesto fan, and an Armin fan. And i enjoy all trance artists for what they bring to the table.

While you may be right in Tiesto no going to Winnipeg, Edm, etc. I meant that in a different way. Since he travels extensively to all continents. I dont think any DJ has a more busy travel schedule than Tiesto.

So what? he had 2 artist albums in 04, a new track in 05. Armin didnt produce much after 76 till the album he just came out with. Its normal. Armin plays lots of his older stuff too, as does ferry, so whats your point here?

Still, i dont see why he should deserve better praise than tiesto today. What makes him more worthy of it today? Better performances in clubs? No. All he has on Tiesto is ASOT. Tiesto doesnt have a radio show, big deal. Many Djs dont have a radio show. Im not trying to say that Tiesto really does deserve more praise, i just cant see why you think Armin deserves more. If anything, I think Ferry Corsten deserves more praise than he gets. Down to earth, incredibly talented. I think he is underappreciated big time.

I will give Armin a thumb up for hitting the lesser known clubs. Thats a good point. But honestly, you need to open your eyes, and stop reading all the TA propaganda on here. See things for what they are. Tiesto likes doing TIC, sure. Im sure he likes the money too. I'm sure Armin doesnt mind making lots of $$ either. But really, do you think these DJs do this strictly for cash? Seriously, why do you see everything Armin do as pure love for trance, but the rest are just trying to make a money grab?

Yeah, you're probably right. Tiesto is old, his end is nearing (just like Oakenfold). I would love for Armin to flourish, that just means more great trance for me right?
