I have the DJX700 and have a few complaints.
The level changes from 9-10 on the upfaders is as drastic as 6-10 on a Pioneer DJM. It's quite the jump, so you have to practice on that.
The main one issue with Behringer is quality. In Ontario Canada, they actually are required to check their mixer to make sure it's in pure working order and all standards are met. In Quebec, this is not the case as for the USA (I believe).
So for the people in Ontario who have got the mixer and haven't had problems, this is most likely the reason.
That said, I have had a few friends who have purchased the mixer and have had channel's just die for no apparent reason.
If you're a beginner DJ, I have no problems with this mixer, but just be warry.
I would honestly spend the money and get a higher grade mixer right from the start.

"You are virtually the ring leader, the way I see it."
Then, I blew out the candle.

Re: which mixer should i get, why not DJX 700

ive heard in one thread they're reliable, and unreliable in another
if not the DJX 700 what should i get in its place? sure id love an Allen & Heath, for a reasonable price, 350 Cad lets say, but i know thats impossible...
id like something thats either 3 or 5 channels, with effects and digital BPM Counter, any suggestions, take into account my use for them.
(although the CDJ's have the BPM on display id like to have them on the mixer for convenience sake)

Buy a nice vestax it is probably better build and will have a higher resale value
It will last you a couple of years.
Now with that in mind I will agree with people that say there is nothing wrong with the behringer one.
There is no point in buing an expensive mixer if you are just going to hook it to your home stereo.
Like I see people with 2000 $ mixers hooked up to their picky mini stereo.
Thats fucking stupid. They are just advertizing victims.
If you want sound quality invest in the system that will amplify the sound.
Give me a 150$ mixer with 1500$ pair of near fields over a 1500$ mixer hoocked to a 150$ stereo.
Until you have a good pair of monitors it doesn't fucking matter

You'll see who they are when you see the flames underneath this post. | Bullshit. Most people will recommend that a beginner gets quality equipment so they won't end up constantly replacing gear like a lot of people have. I recommended inexpensive Vestax mixers. Good build and quality, and it will last. Unlike the Behringer.
| quote: | | There are 2 things "wrong" with it. (but how can it be wrong at 150$ usd?). 1 being the effects, out of about 60 or so about 3 of them are worth trying out and actually using. The other problem is the "sound quality". I can tell very easily that it is slightly better on the DJM 600 i use but not enough to justify an extra 400-500$. NO THANKS. | There are two things wrong with these statements. One being that there are any effects on the 700 that are actually worth using. The other that the sound quality on the 600 is only slightly better. It's significantly better, and it's sound quality isn't even that great. The 600 doesn't cost more because it sounds better (which it does), it costs more because it is built from higher quality components, and has a useable effects section and sampler. It is also much sturdier, and will last much longer, under heavier abuse even.
| quote: | | Also the DJX-700 isn't a "TRUE" 4 Channel mixer...you can only mix 2 songs at once where as the DJM-600 can mix 3 at once. | On both mixers, you can mix all four channels simultaneously. I have no idea what you're basing this on. For 97.3% of EDM DJs (those who mix with upfaders), this is true, anyway.
| quote: | | Other than that...the mixer performs exactly like the 600, as far as the setup goes etc. and one thing that the DJM700 has over the DJM600 are kill switches, for some DJs those are a MUST! | The 700 is laid out in a similar manner, but the performance isn't even close to being similar to the 600.
Kill switches are not an advantage, especially if they don't work properly. They are a gimmick put on lower quality mixers for the illusion of features. Kill switches are useless, and the only DJs that require them have never used a professional club mixer. Club mixers don't have them. Period.
| quote: | | Most of the people here at trance addict will discourage new djs from the CORRECT advice rather than evaluating the situation. | The correct advice is to buy a decent mixer, not a DJX-700.
I used to own a DJM-600, btw, and I regularly use a friend's 700. It's really awful. I would rather have a two-channel Vestax than that POS. That would be well worth the extra $50.
Anyway, MikeyN is making the right decision by going with a Vestax. FX or not, it's the way to go. Although personally, at that price point, I would go for the Ecler Nuo3.

Ok, since his problem is figured out, maybe someone can help me.
Ok, Im pretty confident with ableton live now, using my mouse and keyboard, so i think its time i get some sorta controller for it.
I was looking at the X-Session which clovis bought, and have researched it before, but i wanna know if there are any decent ones.
Also, USB would be awsome, but if it requires a firewire, that'll do as well. I just wanna know what a decent controller is.
I was looking at a few Behringer prods, again, read some good and bad.
O help.
budget = < 500
any thoughts on this?
