Look at all these teenagers that listen to "hip pop" music....and watch the videos on MTV. Tell me those videos aren't affecting the way they view themselves. If you are constantly bombarded with images of women being treated like objects and men referrng to them as "bitches and hoes", how is that not going to affect you growing up? Even when I was living in a dorm the girls I lived with were into pop culture and sure enough, they acted like this...relying on celebrity styles and referring to each other as "bitch or slut or whore". These kids are intelligent, it's just so many are raised by TVs and spend so much time immersed in that world of television that they forget they are living their own lives.
I'm not a feminist by all means....but I do believe that if kids are raised on images that media today projects, it won't do anything for their views on each other in the future. |
no hun, i totally agree!
but if you keep your head up above it all, i'm sure you manage to stay *normal*...the whole hip/hop culture has been around as long as the pop-culture...well ok, some of the negative stuff about it has been surfacing much more in the recent 5-10 years
it is pretty sad how really young teenage girls, like 13-14 go around looking like they are retired hoe's - all the bling bling, and make up and all the dirty talk, it's almost pathetic actually!
i honestly think TV being probably greatest creation of the mankind, is also its worst
