I hate programing sets in advanced. To me it gets really boring. I generally show up to the club with an idea of what I want to play, but my sets usually take a full different direction. My set structure is usually electro house then build it into trance or techno. But it's not set on stone. If the DJ before me is playing trance, then obviously electro house is out of the question.

The last time I had to reverse my set was a few months ago. I was feeling some My, but the DJ before me was playing trance. I began my set with trance and slowly began slowing it down until eventually I ended up with No More Conversations.

Like the other guy said, it's what your feeling at that moment.

Not sure why you would want to do that?

As Tony stated, it's not really totally up to you as you should be able to see what people are responding to.

I have heard DJs do this and it usually leads to conversations amongst clubbers thinking that the guy before was much better and by the end of the set it was shit, people will also start to leave as they run out of energy. People don't really tend to go out to be chilled out by a DJ (depending on music style of course). Just like sex, you wouldn't climax first then move on to foreplay. You have to be in the moment and respond to 'Lady Dancefloor's' needs to make her climax.

Dropping it like this towards the end of a night is a great way to empty the dance floor. As the night goes on and people get tired, the drugs wear off etc, they will be easier to put off.
You would also seriously frustrate a lot of the pill monsters.

Cheers
Nem

mate, i'm afraid you've missed my point

i know about this "reading the crowd" thing and i'm aware of fact that you will never drop your most banging tunes at the begining of night in club... i want to put playing out away of situation we're talking about. just concider it on example like when you're playing at home, just to practice and for fun, you can do whatever you want... just to enjoy yourself...

and i'm just asking, do you think it's possible to reverse certain set, that you've played earlier, successfully?

without any purpose, just to check does the tracklist works in reversed way...

On the contrary, I didn't missunderstand you at all . The thread went off on a few tangents and people started talking about this scenario in the clubs. Wasn't really aimed at your original question.

Sure you can do it. Why not? Technically you can do what you want, but does it sound good... well that's subjective really.

If you do it properly, your set will still be banging. There's many factors that contribute to this... I'll give you another example. Carl Cox at Coachella was hard the firs two thirds of his set, then he really slowed it down towards the end. But then again, Audio Bullies was after him, and they're slower than Carl. Despite all that, his set was still banging.
