however, i heard some great reviews about the night, a lot of new music being played (but then again, the average JP fan would say that) and a lot of quality dark tribal and house as well... however, the one or two times JP plays good music, i won't risk paying 50$ to get in to, considering theres a million local DJs in NYC at Pacha every weekend or wherever, playing the same music, and consistently well

i heard it was really packed even though the world tried to persuade me to go, i had to viva la resistance and deny the peer pressure!

hope everyone had a good time, i hear people pay for the crowd because i can honestly say there be some good looking chicks there just that i rather not be chest bumped by some shirtless meat face all G'd up ... but then to each his own

It may come off defensive at times but I am a fan of all different types of electronic music as well so I try to consider myself as one of the more "musically aware" JP fans.

Eddie, I hope you didn't personally take any offense to JP not having you open or close for him but for the years that I have seen him, the man likes to personally open and close the place. The guy played as a resident for entire weekends at a time back in the late 90s during the drama with that went on when he moved to SF saturdays. I didn't go to sound factory back in the "glory days" that you hear so many fans refer to pre2000 but I have had nights 2001 onwards that the man kept me in that building for nearly ten hours at a time. I've been in Spain for the past year so I've been happy to certainly get away from the usual "New York Sound" or whatever it can be described as and got to see people like Sasha, Desyn, Sander, and Tiesto, play outside of places like New York that show up and bring their vibe with them. For JP fans, it is a cult sometimes and other times, a lot up and coming NY DJs look to the man for his style of how to "work" a track for far longer than most DJs will dare to play a single track. I won't say I'm a huge fan of this practice sometimes, but if a majority of the crowd is feeling the vibe of a song and the man finds new ways to make that song come out of a speaker, good for him.

The guy gives his effort and cares for his fans. With the exception of Made Events and their offers for message board members, I can't think of big time events in NYC that enjoy bringing back the same people. JP had some problems for a bit when he was looking to bring in numbers with the larger venues(Read: Ikon/Exit/Black, Roxy, and some of the Jersey venues for his all day parties) and admitted people 18+. The guy has listened to the fans and changed his policy to 21+. He even changed his hours to start at 8pm when half of NY isn't open for another three hours at the earliest. I don't want to turn this into a JP praise because his parties have much to be desired at times, but he works at what he does and certainly from any videos that have been sent to me from this past year's events, he appears to putting the effort in his "performance" as well. I can't speak on behalf of it all but I hope I offered some opinion from the other side to this thread.

well as far as his performance goes, i just dont think he uses half the stuff hes got out there...


however, on another note that you brought up, i DO think he truly has a love for the music and what he does and, his fan-base aside, i think he really is a good person, and as sincere as any other good DJ... just dont like him and his fans, and thats what keeps me away
