then either you didn't really read or understand my post...or disagree with it.

why can't a parallel be drawn between two groups that have historically been, and continue to be (in certain contexts) marginalized by the status quo?

because one was thought to be infirior from men, women... while the gays problems are mostly related to religion

Nachos, I am a little unsure as to how you qualify your statement that men and women cannot be equal.
Please explain.

Inequality between the sexes can also be attributed to religion.

the reason for their marginalization is irrelevant though...

I'm stating that the activism #s have dwindled because both have gained a certain level of "acceptanace" and protection under the law (i.e. in Canada, gender is specifically protected under the Charter, while sexual orientation has been largely granted the same Charter protection via extension of the same clause by various levels of courts).

because biologically we are different. so it is daft to say differences in attributes are non-existent.

In both cases though, the groups were oppressed because of their label. A lot of the reasoning behind female oppression was justified by the catholic church.

It does make sense to a degree, but I am not entirely sure I agree that it is similar enough to compare.

actually what he said (or as I understand it) was that that they are not the saem, therefore are not equal. Where men are better at some things, women are better at others. So while they may average out to be similar, they are not equal, where equal means the exact same.
