Yeah they're different.
Ours is the European Robin, which is a 'true' Robin. The American Robin, as its called is actually a member of the Thrush family, and is not in any way related to a European Robin. What happened was when the settlers from England came over to America years ago they saw a red breasted thrush and called it a Robin.
The European ones are pretty shy, but the ones in the UK/Ireland are very friendly and will often eat out of your hand. |
