i dj for about 8 months, i can beatmatch quite properly, sure there are some trainwrecks in my mixes, but now i usually got small (rarely over 0.5 sec) drifts...
appart from that i feel that i could improve my eq skills, they doesn't suck completly but i know that my mixes could sound better, but it's hard for me as long as i got crappy numark dm950 with 2 point equalization... gotta find summer job and get rid of this shit

so as i said, playing 8 months i still long way to call myself good

been mixing for just over 2 years, and would say that i'm good enough to play out. Of course i'm still learning all the time, if anyone says that they're not still learning, they're lying i'm afraid

Well for me, once I got my decks. Took me about a week to realize I had my tonearm setup incorrectly (having needles boucne everywhere was fun, haha). Then after that, took me 6 weeks to get beatmatching down. Im still trying to better eq/blend in my tracks together, but I believe I'll get there.

Only reason I was able to pick this up quite quickly, was all thanks to a program that I was goofing around on called virtual turntables about 5 years ago. The interface was exactly like one of those dual deck cdj players. Standard mixer, and no auto bpm that beatmatches for you.

Now maybe after 1 year of experience behind me, I will start handing out demo cds, and try getting a gig, until then, I'm enjoying myself everyday I turn on that On/off dial.
