here's my take: most people start off listening to just trance, then with some their tastes evolve to more sophisticated beats a la prog, electro, breaks & house, then when you go back to (mainstream) trance, most of it seems too formulaic and 2-dimensional... and thus you have all the trance haters in music discussion pissing all over trance threads because they think they are above the whole genre now.
