All I hear are baseless character attacks (majority of which are based on absolute fabrications and misrepresentations). And as far as criticizing him for not offering solutions go, that's absolute nonsense. Dissenters like him offer solutions all the time, it's just that the powers that be don't like them (e.g. "If you want to fight terror, stop participating in it"). |
You have to forgive me for I don't generally care about "intellectuals" and their world view of the way things should be as opposed to reality. For if that was the case instead of him viewing Cuba as the sole brilliant outpost of anti-imperialist U.S.A in the Americas he would realize that it is nothing more than a failed revolution for the Cuban people, but wonderful for Fidel Castro. Instead of meeting Hezbollah who for years acted in concert with Syria in controlling Lebanon after Israel was sent packing he would realize the Syrians were kicked out by the Lebanese who grew tired of them.
He may travel the world and be called an intellectual and a free thinker but no crediblity is to be garnered from believing that these places he cites represents a better world. Decry the wrongs to the places you go as well is what I would tell him, not smooching up to them and then run back to America's imperial World Order structure that is crumbling.
P.S. I don't dismiss everything he has to say, as a student of history that would be foolhardy on my part to do, however like many intellectuals he has a one tracked mind that lends itself to not critic the other side of the equation under study.
