Symetric position does not only mean geometrically symetric but also acoustically. Reflected sound from walls should travel the same distance an should be modified (or not) frequency-wise in the same way from both monitors to your listening position. As long as you cannot ensure that, forget the diffusor. The furniture in such a small room will already give you more diffusion, altough not controlled in any way, than a single dedicated diffusor can provide.
As your room is anything but a studio and your monitors are mainly used for DJing, I'd say forget optimizing that room.
