Ok, i agree with you. I apologize. Just because i dont like Most of Paul van Dyk doesnt mean i have to put him in comparison with BT.

But you need to admit, BT is the SHIIIIIIEEEET!!! hes great.

And i cant really tell why you hate his work now. He has produced even better songs than the ones on ESCM ever since, c'mon, dont tell me you dont like Godspeed, Sunblind, Fibonacci Sequence or SImply Being Loved.

Maybe you are just close minded and want to stick to a genre. People who love music do not lock themselves inside a genre. Thats what BT did, he explored many genres and triumphed. His new album will go back to his roots and amplify them, im pretty sure about that.

Just to add a little extra cream on the top - Fibonacci Sequence was played by Parks & Wilson in their Essential Mix 2000. That mix is absolutely insane (and this is pretty much everyones thoughts on it, from the thread about it).

I love his albums! So BT has my full support.

We pay for his music- we reserve right to judge it. Just because you don't make music doesn't mean you can't be critical- otherwise we wouldn't be able to praise it either.

I hate to put a downer on the fanboy celebration in this thread up to now, but a new BT album is a mixture of emotions. On the plus, the name BT instantly inspires memories of many of many favourite pieces of dance music and his ridiculously perfect production. On the negative, for the last seven or more years he's been making deliberately mainstream fluff. Yeah, broadening your musical boundaries is one thing, but emulating derivative, mindless pop and hip-hop is another. BT still clearly has it in him to be up there with the best, as he shows every now and then. But he's too content to slum it with low-ideas, low-concept pop music. The man was at his best when he was using all his musical and production talent to rock dancefloors, and unless he goes back to that mindset this will probably be as poor as his last few works.

He used to be. Just short of a decade ago. Very rarely these days, though.

Well, surprise surprise, he declared that "This Binary Universe" will go back to his roots, and besides from that, He is releasing another record after TBU 6 months later, of pure Dance Music, no rock or pop or hip-hop-ish tracks. So you can except dance music from him. Yeah.

And Songs like Knowledge of Self (Hip-Hop ish) rock dancefloors. Just like trance does, by the way.

I actually prefered ESCM to Ima for BT. I liked the variety in that album, it just flowed well. Ima was a great trance album but I think it's cool when an artist can diversify, just as long as they can intelligently weave in and out of genres of sub-genres. I think Movement In Still life was also fairly good, but I think the flow of ESCM was just phenomenal and it wasn't completely all over the place, like his last album was I feel. So I am hoping that Binary Universe will be similar to ESCM, and the album after that like Ima. It would also be cool if he could make a concept-mixed CD like Sasha's "Involver", remix some stuff and make it half artist album and half mixed CD, with some live instruments, just totally re-work some tracks, even rework some classics from him. That would sound awesome...

Emotional technology dissapointed me, but I enjoyed MISL, pop music is fun. Emotional technology had that one song with the "pretty aninals" lyrics, and that other which went "it goes over and over and over and over again". I dunno, there was alot of annoying lyrics, it made me wish I had listened to it before buying it, and music wise it just didn't sound as wild and unexpected as the other bt cd's did.

Communicate, simply being loved, those were good, then there were a couple tunes that were OK, but like half that CD was annoying, compared to the other cds which I enjoyed alot more. I mean he did annoying stuff in the past too like "memories in a sea of forgetfullness". All cd's have a couple tracks that you won't enjoy as much, but even the annoying singing like that memories in a sea tune fell into my "OK" range rather than annoying me like alice dj lyrics annoy me.

So after that im skeptical of bt, wont just buy the thing before hearing it first like I did with emotional technology, but I'm definately looking forward to hearing it, beause it might be good.

did bt have a role in "in search of sunrise 5", I remember people posting things that indicated that he did, could that be any hint for what this new cd might sound like? only time will tell

Yes, I know. I'm not saying he's totally pop or he's totally shit.

No I don't think he did unless the CD was made on Ableton Live, and BT assisted Tiesto with how to use it.. not sure...Tiesto's role is to be the mixer/DJ (Tiesto's not much of a producer really), BT's role is a producer (he even admits he's not that great of a DJ, and I've heard people being disapointed when they've seen him live, whether it's his tune selection or screw ups with his laptop or software or whatever..)

Exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself. And didn't.
