fair enough, to each their own, i personally find the 2 mids to be very helpful in mixing, i play house/prog/electro, and to drop the low mid and full the high mid sounds wicked when bringing in a new track. i use the filters on a low/mid combo, or just low, never use the high much. but i know what your saying, when i first got mine, i thought the filters were annoying to use, and the 4 band eq was meh, til i brought it home and started to experiment with completely new mixing techniques and sounds that just are'nt the same with a 3 band and the filter. either way i hope you enjoy ur new mixer! i also got a new set-up to post, hopefully this week.

This may be true, or it may simply be a matter of whether it fits in with your mixing style but personally I think if used right, filters are the one effect that can be very useful with every genre... remember they're not just for doing big sweeps up and down for the sake of an effect - they can be used really effectively to help bring a track in smoothly, particularly if you vary the resonance to make their sound more suitable for what you're doing... and loads more.

Glad you finally are getting a good mixer, now I get get my old behringer back so I can use it as a table or some shit again. .

I'm almost certain I know what mixer hes getting, nobody has guessed right yet, need to think more on the smaller scale of mixers, if he was looking at the Xone32 and Nuo3, what other mixers in that league would there be?

If anyone wants to know, Paypal me $50 bux and I'll tell ya.

No im not a huge fan of them either...... partially comes from the faders and partially coming from me kind of liking to buck the trend away from anything thats overhyped.

Filters are very good and useful- but the rest to me is pretty boring and nothing amazing.
The fact that you can buy filter units seperately would sway (and indeed did sway) me away from buying one.

4 band eq is useful-but ive rarely seen anyone touch anything except the bass eq on them- and that includes AAA list guys Ive worked with too. To most people, it would be like a dog having 4 dicks- it doesnt know which one to play with and when- and it doesnt know how to use them together.

Ok, so I'll add another random bizarre (at least I think) preference to the mix: I prefer the Xone 62 to the 92 (Linear, haven't played on the rotary).

I just think the upfaders on the 92 feel cheap and loose - And beyond that, I guess I just feel that the all round build of the 92 bothers me a touch. The switches to turn on the filters and assign faders feel like after a while they'd wear down and need to be replaced.

I still think it's a rock solid mixer - And will definitely say that with the trend du jour being people talking shit about A&H (it's seemingly happening on every DJ forum I'm a part of recently) I prefer A&H mixers to Pioneer any day, especially the DJM 800 and 1000, both of which I didn't particularly care for when I had the opportunity to play on them.

I've never played on a Urei, Ecler, or Rane Rotary, so i've got no basis for comparison, but at the end of the day I like my Xone 62 quite a bit

It still feels a quite a bit nicer than previous Pioneer mixers... It just does still feel a little cheap for the money.
