I think a good way to go about things is to think of how sets usually progress. Think of how you want the crowd to move or how you want them to get excited. Do you want a build? Do you want solid energy, do you want it to just stand still and then dive into craziness?
It's all about what you want to do.
Practice as well, work on your transitions. Start off quick and short and then try to lengthen them out as you go along. This well help in the overall feel of a set. Notice a lot of DJ's start out with short mixes for slower songs and then start cutting out breakdowns and overlaying longer as they pick up speed. It helps with how a set can build and grow.
