Same with me. Actually, I think the size is probably the HD280's own worst enemy. It seems as though you need a very tight seal with no audio leakage in order to get the best sound possible out of them, but with the earcups as big as they are, that is not always possible. I always found myself having to re-adjust the phones on my head because of this. Too bad they aren't exactly the most aesthetically fitting headphones either, plus the plastic on the headband cracks way too easily and will need replacement after a good 6-8 months or so.

I went with the Sony 7506's after the Senn's cracked up and there is no contest, the 7506's are considerably better, both in sound quality (much more crisper and detailed all around) and also in build quality. I can't even enjoy listening to the HD280's now since they sound more recessed and plasticy in comparison... and I originally thought their sound was second to none too. I wouldn't mind trying the Senn. HD25's, but if there is one product Sony has made and made right, it is the 7506's.

i've never used anything other than the 280's, so i can't compare them to anything else, but i've had them for about 2.5 years, and no problems with them at all.

Well I loved them at the time when I did, but I do remember going through 3 pairs within a year's time.

My first pair needed to be returned after a day because one of the parts in the left ear cup came loose and started rattling. With the replacement pair, I ended up stripping some of the plastic where the screws go in from trying to do the blue-tack mod and finally broke them myself. That was my fault, but on the next pair is when the headband started to crack, which was probably from home dj use.

I did buy a 4th pair at the same time when I got the 7506's, hoping to use them exclusively for music listening, but that was a waste since I don't use them at all anymore in favor of the Sony's.

my hd280s have cracked. i can still use them, but i dunno how long they'll last!
how is the sound isolation on the sony mdr-7506/v6? because on the hd280 it's fucking mad IMO and i love it.

7506, I dont see why I'll ever need anything else ever. If mine break I'll just buy a new pair...
