Switch autosave on while working. You can always turn it off when mixing/recording.

1. Save your song / sequence / samples to FILENAME1

2. Next save do a save as to FILENAME2

next time you save save back as FILENAME1, rinse and repeat between the two files.

That way if something bad happens in a save you at least have a backup.

If your software supports autosaving turn it on and kepp at least 3 or 4 backups every 5 mins.

Not going to help you this time, but going forwards will pull your ass out of the fire is a similar thing happens..

I just keep going.

FILENAME1
FILENAME2
FILENAME3
FILENAME4
ect.

I end up with about 30. Its good cos you can go back and get stuff u removed earlier if u need to. It also stops you being scared to remove stuff as you know u can go back. I'm cut throat now.....

Im sorry about your track, i feel for you , it has happend to me sometimes before, when a used to use reason. I thought i would share how i do my savings.

I dont know about cubase, ive never used it before. But i know that when my computer f**ks up (Happens one in a while), i just reboot it, cus Ableton Live got this nice feature, that it recover it self to the latest NOT SAVED history, in other words the "the undo history".

Cubase got that?, But cubase maybe isnīt a realtime sequncer?. I know this "sucks" more power out of your cpu, but it doesnt have to, as long as you make an own patition for Ableton.

Another thing a do, is that i Save my stuff two times, one to my main haed drive, and one two a external backup harddrive. I think this is verry effective, cus i can allways take my material with me and plug it in my laptop if im traveling someware, and its safe.

Cheers
C

Another thing you can try is to rename your project. Sometimes just renaming it will allow the program to open it again.

As for your track:

The key/chord vs. the lead is very diminished sounding, maybe that is the sound you were going for, but just wanted to let you know that it tends to sound *off* to some people, like stuck in a never ending suspense waiting for the key to go either full major or minor.

Also, way too much reverb. Not sure what reverb plug in you are using, but it's quite nasty.

"When you overwrite a song file, the previous one is not really overwritten, instead it's placed here as a backup, so that in case you made a mistake your project is not lost."

Unfortunatelly i think is too late

file's totally corrupt. I checked it with a hex-editor, and most of the file consists of null-bytes, so renaming wouldn't help, but thx though.

The music theory I know doesn't allow me to do that on purpose, so it's purely coincidental. ;P I'd have to read up on diminished scales probably...

And I think I was using Classic Reverb for reverb. It is nasty yes ;P I used FL's own Reeverb too, but it's not that nasty.
