First one I had I didn't pass, had to have surgery to get it taken out. That was the most painful week of my life. The best was walking out of the urologist's office and having a woman tell me that she'd take child birth over the pain of a (non-passing) kidney stone any day.
If at sometime during that week I would have had the means to kill myself, I would have, it was that bad.
The second one I passed the day after I got totally trashed and dehydrated via alcohol.
The third I passed in a urinal at an Italian rest stop, it made a nice "pling" sound as it hit the porcelin.
I passed the fourth one after I dehydrated myself from cycling all day.
The latest ones have been more of a nuissance than the severe pain I've had before (especially with the first one).
The crazy thing is that you can't remember just how painful they are until you're having one. Even though I've gone through it multiple times, I can't imagine the pain it brings. But I sure as hell remember it once it's going on.
Damn, they hurt!
