Goa Trance. Definitely check out Chi-AD - Astral Warrior and Chi-AD's own remix thereof.
Hallucinogen and Space Buddha also do some similar kind of stuff but Hallucinogen is usually much more restrained and less...hmmm...'guitar solo-y'. Space Buddha is wild though.
Infected Mushroom used to do alot of stuff like this like. Check out Classical Mushroom and The Gathering (in particular songs like The Shen and Virtual Voyage).
Even their newer stuff like Cities of the Future has a solo that is very reminiscent of the stuff in this improv. But Cities of the Future is cheesy as hell and Duvdev's voice. Oh god that horrible voice...
