intro, short for introduction
introduction to a piece of music or a set of music performed by a dj (see disc jockey)
sets the tone of the piece through ambiance, vocal or even starting into the piece itself with little extra elements of sound present, (see kickdrum) or until extra elements of sound are added. (see bassline) It also provides a very suitable place for a dj to begin the process of his or her set of music playing in sequence otherwise known as an introduction to their set
