As good as it sounds, just because there isnt research to show all of its potential long term effects doesnt mean that there are none. Fact of the matter is, the governement wants to spend money to find out what useful drugs effects are, not what u use on ure Sat nite to have a good time. Hence minimal research in the area and why not as much is known as even some of the other more widely used substances. Personally, if it didnt hurt u, it would have still been on the market and never taken off back in the day when it was being prescribed for weight loss and as a psychotherapeutic agent. All these links online just help to support one point of view usually, the person who wants to justify taking it. Besides, if it was good, I would have popped like 500 pills by now. But as a future physician and a first yr med student, it isnt worth my time or effort. Ive been going to parties for almost 5 yrs and the music is more than enough to have a good time. Just my .02. Im not against ppl taking it especially since all of my friends who go to the parties do it, Im just explaining the opposite point of view and trying to show why in fact it isnt as harmless as ppl make it out to be. As one physician said to me once, "Why would u wanna mess up something god made perfect?" Not just E, but most drugs do this. HENCE WHY THEY ARE ILLEGAL. |
Actually there has been quite a bit of research into the long term effects and it all suggests that there are none unless extreme doseage is used. As to why it was declared illegal I cannot speculate, however, one should note it was not until the mid 80s that this happened, which was the height of the "war on drugs."
