I'd rather hear more electro house than minimal... ugh

It is good for it to die though. (Yes I've noticed it too Demoted.) Bring on the new / bad / awesome music!

Whoa, I thought you were going to get defensive

Ah, it's so refreshing to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's slowly receding back into the background, to be played only at proper moments, and not as overbearing and cookie cutter productions to become parts to sets of the same likeness.

Heh, I hate to say it, but Marco V seems to be the last major dj/producer to still be making these types of tracks and having sets comprised almost entirely of them.

Defensive? lol... dude I want the good stuff back. Haven't you seen my reactions in the Steve Angello threads? I'm sick of it. I want new shizz!

Marco V's father died recently, so he's definately not feeling well enough to innovate... hope he overcomes that too

I don't like when I browse the "Progressive House" section of Beatport and 9 out of 10 tracks have the fart synth sound.

It won't die, it will always be around.... To me electro is or has been the music fashion, that meaning if you were out at an electro dance party it was seen as fashionable or cool. But as with all fashion it eventualy gets dumped when there's a change of season.

To the people who really enjoy the music they should be happy, all the gits going with it because its the in thing will fuck off.

One reason I say all this is because I've been to lots of electro dance parties and I meet people and try talk about the music or the dj's and they have no idea who the dj's are, or whose or what music is being played. They didn't really give a fuck! Completely different story to the trance parties i've been to recently. The people knew the tracks, I could sit down with them and have an intelligent convo about the music.

Lol

I have no idea where you're looking, but it's sure not where the electro is! Nearly every big progressive dj I've seen recently has played it and there are certainly big electro tracks coming out.
Fuck, Luke Chable & Phil K came here recently and just hammered out an entire set of it! Paolo Mojo & Desyn Masiello were here recently and also played some of it. Progressive DJs are playing it, new nights are starting catering to it.. this saturday ironically I've been invited out on guest list for the grand opening of a big new electro night here on saturdays!

And as for TRANCEaddict... of course we all know there are lots of people on here that enjoy other styles as well. BUT it's the wrong place to look for a clear idea of house or electro because it is still a place where the majority prefers trance and the discussion is far more centered around trance than house or electro. You can only base so much off of what you see here and your perception of a hand full of names. There is a lot more to it than just a few swedes (Eric Prydz is fucking slaying at his all time best right now) and Marco V!

And yes, the point being argued about what's technically electro.. well there seems to be a difference between modern day electro and what used to be called electro. The new stuff certainly doesn't sound much like kraftwerk! However, look how many diff sounds (old/new) that trance has had as well. Trust me.. we are going to be seeing electro for a while. Maybe not farting basslines for a long time, but this modern electro & electroprog stuff for sure.

Who cares. People who abuse only one sound should not be DJ's anyway...if you know how to weave an electro bomb into your set at the right time, props.

I'm not against or for it, I think theres a time and place for everything...
