Wilderness Tours used the 10-man rafts only for the first run of the day to get acquainted. The other runs are on the 6-man rafts. Kayaks were also available.
The resort does have cabins and tents, large buffet, bar, nightclub (pretty large) with hot tub, volleyball courts, street hockey rink, pool and pingpong tables, huge bonfire, and a huge industrial crane for bunjee jumping.
The prices are similar to River Run. River Run is a good operation, smaller and newer to the scene. But much more ppl to meet and party with at WT. Try them both.

This thread makes me wanna get wet.
I'm hoping to head down to the same area in September with some Cleveland friends.
He showed me some pictures and they look like damn fun.
I've done a white water canoe course before. Does class 5 rapids require you to have a bit more experience?

My group meets up with a group from Cincinnati and another group from Lansing, Michigan... The crowd of people that go to opening week-end generally go every year... I should post my pics,,, I have some awesum shots from over the years...
There is NO experience necessary... many people break their whitewater cherry on the Gauley... And it is a real treat to watch that!! Any experience with whitewater, such as canoeing will obviously be valuable on this sort of trip, but like I said, it is not required...
I should note there are FIVE class five rapids on the Gauley River, and we won't be portaging any of them!! For those of you who have run the Ottawa river,, you know how much it sucks to come up to one of the best rapids on the river, only to be forced to carry your HUGE raft, through a portage trail meant for Kayaks and Canoes... There is one company in Ottawa that runs the rapid I am talking about and that is 'Esprit'... If I ever head back to the Ottawa River, that is who I will run with...
