Pfft.
That happens because people on TOTA know each other personally to some degree, unlike in other online forums where everybody is anonymous. And when you know people personally, your replies would obviously get a lot more personal than if it was some unknown stranger in Zimbabwe. Look at it from the bright side - because everybody knows each other, if I, let's say, go and just flame you (well and with good reason), your friends would stick up for you and flame me back (or at least tell me to fuck off); but if everyone was anonymous, everybody would join in on the flaming of you. So it's not all bad.
Secondly, I notice more often than not, threads get off topic when there is no more topic to discuss. Due to the amount of threads that could have been easily prevented with a simple search, people stray into discussing anything under the sun, since what the thread topic is has been beaten to death like 100 times already.
