I knew most people would disagree with me about this, that's why I only gave my opinion from my own experience too 
I have a pair of Samson Resolv 50A monitors, and a Samson Resolv sub88 submonitor which I have produced with for nearly a year. Then I bought my headphones and found out it was a lot easier for me to work with them. I think i'm pretty much the opposite of you, as I haven't been using my monitors for producing ever since I bought my Sennheiser's 
Of course it's always good to have at least 2 different monitoring systems to test your mixdown.
