And Armin if you are reading this, than can you play more emo, melodic stuff in your ASOT?

Ex:

First track of ASOT 236 : Tomy Nash - Fever!

(You only played it once )

That's neither coincidence nor inspiration; it's canon.

It is NOT an obscure song. It is arguably the biggest, most popular, most important, and most influential electronic music single of all time. What Time is Love and its remixes from 88-91 are almost single-handedly responsible for launching four distinct and completely separate genres of music*. DJs have been caning it since it was released.

Armin playing it doesn't say anything about TA; it means he decided to play it. It gets played hundreds of times every weekend in any given club.

For those interested: The original pure trance 1988 version invented Trance; the b-side of that same record Ambient House; the 1989 Live at Trancentral version--the version everyone knows--is the original Stadium House, later called Anthem House, later to evolve into Eurodance.

I like the theory that I inspired him better.

There's a new cover of WTIL out- it's Amsterdam from Oakey's new album. Basically it's a tech-trance anthemy version. A lot like Tiesto's Traffic but with a slightly altered WTIL hook in the middle. Could well have been that.

Christian and I talked about this. It's not a cover or a sample. It's just a ripoff of the 3-key melody. If anything, Oakie's just being an idea-challenged monkey.

Not the first time.

id say italo disco had more of an influence in that route with artists like bortolotti and mauro farina on zyx as well as lee marrow.

but your correct that klf was borderline euro house / eurodance

True, but they forgot the one most essential, crucial ingredient of eurodance: rapping.

ahh yeah well there was also brian ice in the mid 80s doing italo rap, ICE MC's Ian campbell started off rapping over italo with savage singer and producer roberto zanetti. so the influence is carried over with Italo as well. Ricardo Lyte did contribute rap vocals to a couple of the innovative KLF tracks towards teh end of the 80s. Id say the ZYX rap influence would serve more of an impact, especially with the rap interludes from the max mix compilations starting from the mid 80s and the obvious label link between ZYX italo and ZYX euro.

KLF was definatley a different step from italo though no question there. Fuller sounds and the key progressive element. More trance influencial then euro for sure, but the two genres sort of go hand in hand (element wise)
