DJ Icey is a florida BREAKBEAT dj..........he was never techno as far as i know (i could be wrong but i never heard him do anything besides breakbeat). Now to techno......see the way i see it......first generation was juan atkins, kevin saunderson and derrick may and too some extent.....jeff mills and then second generation was carl craig, kenny larkin and stacy pullen. That is how i always go by things, other things.....luke slater is a great deejay, same with ben sims. Funny that adam beyer is only 25...soon to be 26......and he has achieved so much and ppl always forget dave clarke in any list.....i think he always needs to added because he is a founder in a sense that had been playing techno since really 1992.

dave sure does play awesome techno & electro
and adam beyer (the king inside the swedish techno scene) is ........

first of all...if u are saying that techno is very repetitive, check out ACID TECHNO - this subgenre is very spacious, and all tracks are diverse!

I don't like techno. But having said that, I've never been in a situation where I can really appreciate it. I just don't understand music with no over-riding melody. I think if I was wasted at a club I could dance to it all night but not in the car to chill to.

Well at least you didn't write techno off completely. I don't think one can say that one hates techno after listening to one techno dj like Picotto. I'll admit that I don't love techno, but I do like it cuz I like dancing to it. What I really like is techno-breaks. I'm not sure how to classify that. I heard it at a party once. I was in the breaks room but the break beat was mixed with techno beats. It was really cool.

Techno is one of those genres that I think is MUCH better live than at home... For instance I could never listen to a whole Carl Cox CD at home, but when I saw him live he was just off the hook and I was loving it. I usually get about a third of the way thru a pure hard techno CD and start thinking that the beat is just too relentless and that it needs a breakbeat or a breakdown (with no beat).

I REALLY love techno oriented music tho, especially Tech-Trance and Tech-House. Pure Techno can be a bit much tho... Lately I've really been digging Danny Howells style of Progressive Tech-House. I'd like to explore some Deeper Techno in the future...
