thanks for all the suggestions so far.. I've been wanting to go to Tobermory for a while so that may be the way to go. It would probably be best to combine it with some camping.. that is if I can still find available spaces on campgrounds there!
The whale watching on St Lawrence sounds awesome too! Maybe combine that with a stopover in Quebec City.. could be nice

Anyone have ideas for a fun getaway with cool sights that won't break the bank? I'm thinking Ontario/Quebec region.
Any suggestions would be super appreciated
I dunno where you're based (TO or elsewhere) but Graham & I like to go to St. Jacobs and hit up the farmer's market. We've stayed at a bed & breakfast in Elora (1/2 hr away), and gone inner tubing down the Elora Gorge (you can camp there too). Fergus is its sister town and is also very quaint.
St. Jacobs is awesome. I have been many times (4+) and will be going back before the fall.
The farmer's market has so much good stuff and there is also an outlet mall across the street with Levi's, Corning, Kodiak, Liz Claiborne, Rockport, Reebok, etc.
If you're into a unique road trip - pick a destination on the Husky map and drive stopping at every Husky and every tourist stop along the way. I have done this myself and it can be an interesting way to check out the lesser known tourist areas in Canada.
