It will be too loud. It's like connecting CD Players in Phono input.

If you only have a laptop, then you'll need to purchase an external soundcard. Desktops come with line In, Line Out, Headphones, and Mic In.

The majority of laptops only offer Mic In, and Headphones. Trying to use any of these will give you a terrible recording and playback in terms of quality.

So, you'll need to buy an external sound card. Hopefully your Lap Top offers USB inputs. For if it doesn't your pretty much out of luck.

thats what i thought.... I guess i will opt for the imic with audicity then.

I really only need this for recording mixes for friends maybe a demo cd when the time comes. I like doing a set then listening to it after to see where i can improve, so i dont need the best sound quality.

thanks all!!

What if I my desktop computer isn't near my decks and mixer? Would I just purchase a CD burner and hook it up to my mixer? How much do those cost?

Then you go to Radio Shack and buy a long RCA. You know, one of those that's like 12 or 25 Feet long.

ok guys this is weird, had serato for a while now, but only decided to record a set today for the first time with serato. i use a ibook g4, which i upgraded my ram to 1.25gig, im using griffin imic to record through audacity. sound quality there is no problem, yet when i have both serato and audacity open it slows serato down like you wouldnt believe, ive changed all the settings in the serato setup menu to compensate for buffer speeds etc, but still everything seems so jittery, seems as if there is mega waveform delay. loading times often freeze for 10/15 secs, yet audio still plays.
the recording sounds fine, yet there are parts where the audio skips and just cuts out, as if there is some kind of delay. i just dont understand, i mean i upgraded my ram, so should be speedy and fluent. its pissing me off.

any help much appreciated, ive tried the serato board, couldnt find anything.

if you only have a mic in on ur laptop, quite often you can change the settings to switch between line in and mic in. at least you can on my laptop, check your settings and configurations
