What do I think? I love Reason more than any other software instrument! It was worth every single cent.
When people say it's limited, they have not seen the program put to real work, because it's not limited. It is a modular rack and you get what you want from it.
A synth with 8 oscillators? Then put like 4 Malström synthesizers in a Combinator and patch it up like you want to.
The question is, are you up into creating your own patches? Or just loading a simple single Subtractor preset?

I'm rewiring it to either Cubase or Pro Tools whenever I need to record acoustic instruments too.
As I started using Reason, I stopped making drafts/demos/preproduction. I'm making the whole tune almost instantly.

+1 get the demo to test it. Unfortently I got mine bundled with my pc without testing it and after a short while I decided it wasn't for me as I wasn't keen on the sequencer and I wanted to add hardware and vst's.

So I got cubase SL again without testing it. I was getting on quite well with that untill I came accross fl studio which untill then I had dismissed as an ejay type toy. Now I'am the proud owner of a copy and I highly recommended it to anyone ( Just don't get the boxed version ).

I really would advise you to try before you buy so you don't end up making the same expensive mistakes I did.

As soon as I get off holiday next week I will definitely download the reason demo, although 20 minutes doesn't seems like a lot of time to really get a feel for all of its features...

Being a college student, I believe I'm eligible for a student discount on Reason, which could also be a huge factor in my decision when choosing software to buy...since the educational version of reason 3.0 is only $200...

After downloading both demos, I was really impressed with both programs.

I liked the fact that Reason has so many options and its sound bank is huge. It seems like there are tons of possibilities within the program, and it also seems designed for dance music. However, I don't like that fact that I cant use any hardware without rewiring reason to another DAW, which I don't think I have the processing power for yet.

I downloaded the version of Tracktion today and was actually really impressed. It comes bundled with a huge number of useful plugins including a drum machine and 2 VA synths. It seems just as flexible as reason, but even moreso because I can use my novation X station's built in synth, along with anything else that I can route through the inputs. Tracktion is also cheaper than Reason, which is good for my small budget.

Thus, I'm ordering Tracktion within the next few days, and hopefully I'll be pumping out some better songs than I was using garageband

reason is not just made for dance music! Hey I did a whole Tubular Bells cover with it!






and as for analog vst

guys...just split it...anal-og vst

vst ass...you know you want to spank it when you load it in your FL studio wrapper...or in my case in Ableton ... it really comes live in Live!
