I hope that wasn't a real commercial. Cause even PS2 is better than Wii.
And did Nintendo just try to criticise Sony on their selection of games? AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. HEY NINTENDO, WHEN I FEEL LIKE PLAYING ANOTHER ADAPTATION OF MARIO BROS FOR THE GAJILLIONTH TIME, I'LL GIVE YOU A CALL! For now, sit down, stfu, and continue appealing to first-graders. |
This is by far one of the stupidest posts I've ever seen you make. You wanna talk about milking franchises? How many Gran Turismo's has Sony put out already? And the franchise has been around for only what, 8 years? What about EA and how they milk every single franchise they own? Considering Nintendo's been in the video games industry since the early 80's and doesn't have MORE Mario games is actually respectable compared to other companies. And really, can you blame them? Mario is more recognizable than any Disney character, so why not take advantage of that? It's been proven time and time again that the Mario name is $$$. Any other video game company would kill to have access to the franchises Nintendo has. From Zelda, to Metroid, and Mario.
As for Nintendo going out of business... ...please, do you even know what you're talking about? Nintendo is one of the few reasons this industry hasn't collapsed yet. I can't imagine how a company who's consistently one of the top 3 publishers every year for God knows how long could go out of business.

I see no innovation in PS3, nothing that makes me say "wow, that looks like fun". It's just a more powerful box, pretty graphics. Same crap they've been doing for years. |
Eeexactly. The only game that interests me on the PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4. But I'll just wait for a version of it on the Wii; which is inevitable once Konami realizes how much money could be made on that console versus the PS3. Add some motion-sensing controls and you're all set.

Nintendo DS sales top 21 million worldwide Print E-mail
Wednesday, 09 August 2006
Nintendo recently announced that since its launch less than two years ago (Nov. 21, 2004), more than 21 million Nintendo DS systems have been sold worldwide. The company notes the number is especially astounding considering it took Apple a similiar length of time to ship one million of its ever-popular iPod music players.
The rate of Nintendo DS units being sold equates to 23 systems per minute - nearly one every two seconds - since it launched. The company says that there are now more than 130 Nintendo DS software titles - and 880 Game Boy Advance software titles that can be played on the popular gaming system.

, Nintendo issued a formal apology after the Nintendo DS became sold out throughout Japan.[21] No Nintendo system had ever sold out in Japan before.[22]
Nintendo announced on February 15, 2006 that in Japan the Nintendo DS reached 5 million units sold in less than 13 months after its launch which marks the fastest-ever pace for a video game system in Japan.[23]
In Nintendo's press conference at E3 2006, George Harrison (Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communication at Nintendo of America) stated that the Nintendo DS sold over 16 million units world wide since its launch.
In June 2006, 593,000 units of the Nintendo DS were sold.[24]
In July 2006, 377,000 units of the Nintendo DS were sold.
Current Sales of Nintendo DS and DS Lite:
* worldwide: 21.27 million as of June 30, 2006[2]
o Japan: 9.24 million (as of June 30, 2006)[2]
o The Americas: 5.90 million (as of June 30, 2006)[2]
o Other: 6.13 million (as of June 30, 2006)[2]
As of June 30, 2006, 4.15 million of the total Nintendo DS unit sales worldwide are of Nintendo DS Lites.
Nintendo has placed the Nintendo DS outside of its highly successful Game Boy line, which is targeted at the pre-existing gaming market. It has been speculated that this was a precautionary measure to ensure the Game Boy brand remained untarnished if the Nintendo DS were to fail commercially.[citation needed]
Nintendo signed a deal with the creators of the new Alex Rider film so that on his mission Alex will be equipped with a DS.
The system's promotional slogans revolve around the word "Touch": in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand: Touching Is Good; in Canada: Don't Touch, Touch; in Japan, and China: Touch!; and in Europe: Touch me!, with the exception of the Spanish A tocar (Let's Touch, or Let's play in the musical sense) since the music duo Estopa is performing all Nintendo DS advertisements, and in Brazil: tocar é legal (Touching is cool). The only exception to this is the new campaign slogan in the United Kingdom, Open up and play (used since the Touch! Generations began).

The Nintendo DS is currently seen by many analysts to be in the same market as Sony's PlayStation Portable, although representatives from both companies have stated that each system targets a different audience. At the time of its release in the United States, the Nintendo DS retailed for $149.99 USD. The price dropped to $129.99 USD on August 21, 2005, one day before the anticipated North American releases of Nintendogs and Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
As with Nintendo's previous handheld consoles, the Nintendo DS has been produced in a number of different colors. As of August 2005, eight official colors are available through standard retailers. Titanium (silver and black) is available worldwide, Electric Blue is exclusive to North and Latin America. Graphite Black, Pure White, Turquoise Blue and Candy Pink are available in Japan. Mystic Pink and Cosmic Blue are available in Australia and New Zealand. Japan's Candy Pink and Australia's Cosmic Blue are also available in Europe and North America through a Nintendogs bundle, although the colors are just referred to as pink and blue. However, these colors are only available for the original Nintendo DS model; a different and more-limited set of colors have be used for the Nintendo DS Lite.
