Well, about point C, it's not quite broadband speed. And there are some other advantages. But at the moment they are pretty much just novelty value unless your really into using your tech to the max.
I too have noticed almost all phones nowaday are shockingly bad. They either look like crap clones of one another. Or look cool, but have a terrible spec.
My favs at the moment are the Samsung P300, or Nokia N93.
