he has kept his promises the GST being one of them.
As far as the media is concerned i agree with him 100%. The media is nothing but yellow journalism. The more you give them the more the become a feeding frenzy and twist things. Im also happy hes not going to every single stupid event that whines because hes not there.
The AIDS conference and out games being 2 that come to mind. No one said anything when chretien never came to these sorts of events. did they?
Good for our PM for actually governing instead of wasting time on photo ops.
Hes critisized for being in the arctic this week instead of the AIDS conference. This IS A GOOD THING. Dont people see that hes doing something he feels is important for the future of this country instead of photo ops? The north has hardly ANY VOTING POWER yet hes up there trying to secure our sovereignty for the future of our nation. What would he have accomplished at the AIDS conference that richard gere and the like wouldnt have? Policy comes from ottawa, not feel good speaches at conferences,

I can agree with you regarding not being at the AIDS conference, however, I have some issues with what you have stated.
First, while he stuck to his promise regarding the GST you must admit that the cut itself was pandering as it is the very worst tax cut that could be given. Arguing against this is simply not an option as all the economists have already weighed in. Do I like paying less tax, sure, but was it the best of the options, no.
The media bias issue is a myth in my eyes but that is beside the point. One of Harper's first directives was to keep his ministers away from the media. This centralizes all communication through his office. If nothing else such control gives the impression of less transparency.
Finally, Mr. Harper doesn't avoid all photo ops... just some. Taking his official photographer on his rescue mission speaks to this not to mention that the Canadians flown out had to be rounded up and brough to cyprus specially for that opportunity.
Okay, I really don't want to debate Harper's performance, I'll just state again that I am disappointed. Only he can change that, not you Jay. We'll have to agree to disagree for the time being.
