Do you follow these steps while reading a novel ?

well i don't usually read a lot of fiction stuff hahah...but as stupid as it seems...i would probably like to make a quick character and theme list for the book. i mean how many times have you read a book and then forget it with time? if you have notes on it...well you can just go reread the notes if you need to recall something, but more likely the story will stay with you if you have taken notes on it in the first place.

Cautiously.

If there's one thing I hate it's making my new books look tattered. I've never been able to read a book without creasing the spine a little bit. No idea why.

Rarely do I mark in them, but I should get in the habit. Sometimes I bend pages though, but I need to stop doing that.

Most of my books look exactly how they did when I first purchased them. I'm the same with my DVDs and records too. I am quite particular about the condition of things that I have purchased for long term keeping. I don't know why.

if the book is good, i much rather re-read it when i forget it than read notes i've made while reading it the first time. and also i'd rather have the excuse to read it (via forgetting) rather than remembering a bunch of notes about it.

I'm the same way for DVD's, games, CD's, etc. (Hell, I still have 3 copies of the Lateralus vinyl--one signed, one to play, & one to never touch or open)

I've got a friend who is just like that

He doesn't even open the books fully - he just opens them a bit and reads as if he were looking through a keyhole.

I take really good care of my school books...they're worth a lot of fucking money and I'll probably use them for most of my nursing career. If I need to highlight something important, I use those colored stickies.

Lesiure books I'm still pretty careful with...the worst thing I do is dogear the pages, but I think that gives them character.
