Sorry Clovis, you're wrong. It's not the same tent. Look at the lighting rig, it's different. Plus the Sahara tent has covers on the side. To top it off, the angles on the Sahara tent are more steeper.

That actually makes it look alot like Coachella lol. The little covers on the side were removable. They had them pulled all the way back at night, later in the afternoon, and pretty much all of last year.

Well as you can see Coachella over the years have had less and less EDM talent and more and more live acts as the market does not support 50,000 people attending for EDM.

The funny thing is, if they asked you to play that week end and be a part of that line up would you say no?

Thats what I thought,

They COULD though, and it doesn't necessarily have to be "Coachella" throwing the party. If they brought the Global Gathering line-up to the Coachella polo field with the Global Gathering people throwing the party, they could most def have that many people. Look at Love Parade last year.

I think the LP is differnt. Also there is no way in hell you could afford to pay that much talent with the prices DJ's charge in America to be able to turn a profit with out having serious sponsorship due to the lack of resonse with EDM music in America.

Trust me as we are planning a Global now for Los Angeles for 2007 and you cannot spend more than $200,000 in talent for an event for 10,000 which is you think about it gets you maybe 2 headliners. The only way to get 40,000 people is to amalgomate differnt types of music such as Coachella.

Perception. No one has tried it, again Love Parade took a shot and it was successful. Yes it was "free" and all the proceeds went to charity, but still...some pretty big names coupled with alot of local talent still drew a HUGE crowd. Well over 40,000 people. How many people show up to the massives every 3 months? 10,000 at least right? 2 days, all massive headliners JUST like Global Gathering in the UK...you're telling me it won't do well in America? C'mon now.

No what I am telling you is that for anyone to find a field and put up 5 tents in the middle of no where and book the same line up from GGUK in Amercia we lose well over 1 million dollars if not 2 million. Think about it at a $40 ticket you would loss you ass if you had 5 tents with all that talent.

Yes every 3 months EDC, Nocturnal, Giant, TAO they all do very well but if you look at what they spend on talent it is not more than 200k exepect maybe for NYE to where you can charge more.

There would be nothing more that we would like to do than have the same model as GGUK right here on the West Coast as back in the UK but it just will not happen as finacially it does not work.

I agree with Shafer, It's too expensive and not cost effective to do something like that in the west coast. DJ's charge ridiculus fees in the West Coast. Plus it's not only DJ fees you have to deal with, you have to deal with all the venue and city regulations wich can be a hassle too. I've been to the Polo Fields when the parties there used to last until 6am. Not no more.... Imagine if Coachella went until 6am!!!!

Sadly enough, even Mexico has bigger festivals than we do here in the US. But then again, the laws are more leniant over there and DJs don't charge anywhere nearly as much as they do here. People over there simply wouldn't pay for it. Then again, EDM is played on commercial radio there too, and that has has a big impact.

i was lucky enough to go to the 2000 Nocturnal Wonderland at the Polo Fields.

that was IMO the best large-event EDM party ever in the US. at any given moment you had several stages with top talent spinning.

and that went to 6am - nothing cooler than being out there as the sun comes up.

too bad that was the one and only that went late like that there.

Yeah I agree that would be great, no a days to get an all night permit is impossible especially in California. We have been trying to do somehting on the Beach in the day for a bout 5 years now and no matter what we try we get cock soup!

Laws in So Cal are really really tough. So we make due with what we have and no compare things to other things on the other side of the world
