I'd disagree with the former half of that statement. You haven't seen a void until you've seen the scene in the Midwest. Somewhere in Texas has something going on every weekend, and usually stuff in the middle of the week as well. Kansas, Missouri, etc. are lucky to get a headliner a month. We are blessed.

It's slowly getting better up there, but very slowly, and I seriously doubt they'll ever have enough pull to have a headliner in three major cities on the same weekend, unlike Texas which does it regularly. I think only St. Louis boasts enough of a scene to make a ripple, and they're often shocked by how easy Texas makes it look to draw in big names when they're barely scraping by.
