The results are quite interesting, and they're often different from what I expected (which is actually a good thing, and they've explained some of the stuff I had read about ). I'm quite curious about all those who considered the second vowel to be "gey": Does it sound like the infamous word "gay"? I'd expect some Europeans to confuse that, but I'm actually quite excited about hearing North Americans coming to that conclusion as well

To me the second one sounds like "gay" being pronounced by someone who speaks Australian/UK English with a strong Indian/Sri Lankan accent. It sounds exactly how a Tamil Sri Lankan friend of mine would say "gay". Most native english speakers (aussie, UK, US, Canadian) would put more of a dipthong in the word - I would have thought.

That's really trippy - you can distinguish the 3rd and the 4th syllable in a completely different way (which I believe must be the explanation of why I can't distinguish "bad" and "bed" properly).

Yeah, I didn't dipthonguise it on purpose (I didn't want there to be any bias toward "ay" when compared to "eh"), but it surprised me because people heard it in the 2nd syllable (whereas I expected them to hear this "ay" sound in the 3rd). That's one of the reasons why this simple survey has been quite interesting to me
