Not to say that artist albums don't have dancefloor material. But you'll see a much larger swing in variety of styles. Good examples of this are Ferry Corsten's Right of Way, Don Diablo's 2 Faced , Sasha's Airdrawndagger, Oakenfold's Bunkka, BT's Movement in Still Life, list goes on and on and on. The point being many artist albums are usually not just a collection of previously released singles stuck on one CD.

i thought i remember Tiesto converted to playing techno only some years ago..

one thing that strikes me though, doesnt he get bored with playing the same stuff all the time? i mean, even I has converted to other styles of EDM.. but he seems to stick with the trance.. and i mean, he has prolly heard ten times more trance than me.

I disagree. All of isos series have dance beats behind it, so you can dance to it, now maybe its not as dancer friendly, but you can dance to them. I guess you just reminded me of some people that say you cant dance to trance. I dont get how anyone can say this because all of dance music, regardless of genre have dance beats. Now some are more dancer friendly than others, but 4/4 beats in general can be danced to regardless if its house, trance, dnb, ect.

the isos series is more on housey trance kind of music.. If your looking for real trance yes its true you should look at the magik series and IMHO magik 6 live in amsterdam is one of the best mix compilation done by tiesto

I'll second Magik 6 Live in Amsterdam. Excellent trance mixcomp. Different sounds for different series. I like the more laid back nature of the ISOS series. They help keep the work day flowing smoothly. Sometimes banging full on trance is just too "busy" sounding for monotonous work.

I haven't listened to enough of Tiesto's past works to say that yes he has or no he hasn't changed. I would argue this: DJs (most that have "made it") are in business to make money. I know I show up here at work every day for the money! With that said, I think they are going to play (most of the time) what will please the most people at once and thus generate the higher potential income. If that means housier trance, then that's what we'll get. If it means full on, uplifting epic trance, that's what we'll get. I think we sometimes forget that though a lot of DJs started out spinning for "the love of the music" some have moved to the status of doing it for a living and for providing a show. Once you are caught up in all of that, I think you have to do what is "best" for your bottom line. After all, as far as we know we only get one shot at life. Might as well bank it while you can.

you're right. it is dance music. i should be more careful with my words. its just that the isos cds are so laid back, they dont really inspire anyone to get up and dance in their living room, no one i know anyway. as someone else said, they're great for background music at work. i heard isos5 on an internet radio station at work the other day and its amazing how it just blended right in the background and it was soothing.

but, if i want some background music, i go right for the best that is meant for that kind of thing, like the richard d james album selected ambient works vol2.

Some people enjoyed the Summer Breeze album, however it is not one of my favorites for some reason. I can't really put a finger on it, though.

Tiesto is a rather tough character to track if you look just at his albums. But there is one consistency: his older stuff generally featured lesser known producers and tracks, but now he seems to just throw in whatever is being played... therefore, providing more proof that he is in it for the money, and that is not a bad thing.

ISOS 3 is the gem of my collection as far as his albums are concerned. It is a totally mellow album compared to alot of his other stuff that I have listened to. To compare ISOS 5 to 3... you just can't!

Zoso: Led Zep was THE Band that I listened to before diving into trance. Such awesome memories with that sound.. Achilles Last Stand is the greatest opus ever, and effects me just as much as any EDM track can!!!

Agreed. I was a freshman in high school when my girlfriend at the time bought the 4 disc boxed set for me for Christmas. So much good music. When The Levee Breaks is where it's at for me.
