Well, I remember when Mauro Picotto came here (he was the first DJ to come here) about 3 years ago I heard that he charged $25K but I don't know for certain. It was in a small club, couldn't have been more than 300 people.

I never understood how small clubs could afford such expensive DJ's and stay in business.

It really means he charges way below the rumoured estimate.

It wasn't the club that booked him, it was a promoting company's first event. I don't know if they did on this event, but now they've got sponsors.

the best way is to get in touch with the DJ through his website. Most of the big names will have booking agents in the major countries who will handle all the dealings

Its normally harder for a new night to get a big name first, you may find that you will be offered a smaller artist from the rooster to make sure the event is good, has a good crowd and money behind it. Only once a few other DJ's have been booked will the major acts consider doing a future event.

Face it, your not gonna be able to just drop Tiesto an email and get a cost back from them. Normally the agent will ask you to make an offer, they will want to know the venue, line-up, hotel and travel info, capacity of the event and also if it fits in with current travel details of the DJ.

So asking a price isn't something that can be answered straight off...

Hope that helps

It's better to private message promoters who have actually booked specific djs for events around the same size / area. Don't rely on rumours of how much it cost and don't expect honest answers in a public forum because promoters telling people a dj's pay is considered kinda rude.

(Oh, but emailing djs with the size / location / cover and then asking for a price is okay ... on a side note i've always hated that some booking agents *will not* give you a price, they demand an offer. Then you give them an offer and then they'll name a cost. What is this, a game show??)
