The only mix of this which is worthy is the Andrew Weatherall Remix.

But as Others has said, and im sure many people will say in the future, no mix will ever top the Original, its a haunting masterpiece. The best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be.

I enjoy several mixes of this along with the original, depending on my mood. Only 3 mixes i can't stand at all and they are Graham Massey mix, Hamish McDonald mix and Simian mix.

I think my fav version is Qube Mix.

Yeah, the Simian Mix is fucking bizarre. I've never heard the Qube Mix, or the Dali Mix, but they only ever came out on vinyl so I probably never will.

Both of them appear on the original '91 vinyl which was reissued a few years back tho. Dali Mix = original 12" version, just different titling. Qube mix is a wonderful acidic version and has never been released on cd to my knowledge.

It's a darker, more complex take on the original, that's at least as good. It's not all that different from the original either, so I don't see how you can call it dull.

no, you seen the S12 re-release, it's very similar to the original vinyl, artworkwise etc

Papua isn't about being dark. The best mixes of the track change it but don't make a blissful track into a dark one because that's missing the point. And I call it dull because it's about 11 minutes of aimless chugging prog wankery. And taking the elements of the original, scattering them about and adding some murky synths may be more complex but artistically it's rubbish.

I was talking about the re-release: the one Grim linked to in that post.

It builds towards a blissful climax at 7 mins, apart from that it's a prog appreciation thing I guess.
